Who we are

GetYourNIF.pt is an online service that helps people obtain a Portuguese tax identification number (NIF) remotely and provides fiscal representation in Portugal. In this policy, “we” means GetYourNIF.pt, the data controller for the personal data described below.

GetYourNIF.pt is operated by Chairman Group, Lisbon, Portugal.

What we collect, and why

We collect only what your application needs:

• Identity details: your full name as on your passport, date of birth, nationality and the country that issued your passport or ID card.
• Contact details: your email address, and a phone number if you give us one.
• Documents: a copy of your passport or EU ID card, proof of your address outside Portugal, and a signed power of attorney where one is required for your application.
• Application details: the service you choose (Standard or Urgent), whether you add the optional Finanças password service, and the progress of your application.

We use this data to prepare and file your NIF application with the Autoridade Tributária e Aduaneira (Finanças), to act as your fiscal representative where you appoint us, to send you your NIF and application updates, and to answer your questions. The legal bases are the performance of our contract with you, legal obligations that apply to fiscal representation and tax filings, and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries. We never use your documents for marketing, and we never sell your data.

Who we share it with

Your documents are shared only with Finanças and your fiscal representative, and only to process your application. Service providers that host this website and deliver our email process data on our instructions. Card payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number.

How your data is protected

Uploads travel over an encrypted connection and are stored encrypted. Access to application documents is limited to the people working on your application.

How long we keep it

We keep your application documents while your application and, where it applies, your fiscal representation are active, and afterwards only for as long as a legal obligation that applies to us requires. You can request a copy or full deletion of your documents at any time at support@getyournif.pt; where a legal obligation requires us to retain a copy, we keep it only for that obligation and delete it when the obligation ends.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected, to request its deletion, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive a copy in a portable format. To use any of these rights, email support@getyournif.pt and we will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, the Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD), at www.cnpd.pt.

Cookies

This website uses only the cookies it needs to function, such as security and load-balancing cookies set by our hosting and caching. We do not use advertising cookies and we do not track you across other websites.

Applications for children

Applications for a child under 18 are made by a parent or legal guardian, who provides the child’s documents for that application.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, the new version will be published on this page with a new date at the top.
